This season, the Vancouver/New York based company returns with the world premiere of Beamish’s new full-length work Giselle, a tech-driven modern take on the beloved romantic ballet featuring superstars from The National Ballet of Canada and American Ballet Theatre. The work premieres Sept 5-7, 2019 at The Vancouver Playhouse, but an exclusive first preview will be performed by National Ballet of Canada Principal, Harrison James, on Sunday, July 7th at the Heritage Playhouse.
Also, on the program is Lollapalooza, Beamish’s first work commissioned by the National Ballet of Canada, which premiered at the Mad Hot Gala in June 2018. Set to the music of John Adams, Harrison James will be joined by BC’s own National Ballet prima, Jillian Vanstone. Joshua Beamish will also perform his iconic solo works Adoration and Concerto, set to the music of Bach and Haydn.
The performance is part of an exclusive day event. Guests will engage with three of Canada’s finest dance artists over lunch, artist chats and a champagne toast and tour a private collection of original works by some of Canada’s most prominent visual artists.
